According to Weather.gov, "A record-breaking and dangerous heat wave is coming to the West," and will affect most of Oregon later this week and through this weekend.
A strong high pressure over the Pacific Northwest will bring unseasonably hot weather beginning Friday and lasting through next Monday. Temperatures will be 20 to 30 degrees above normal for this time of year, and will remain hot overnight, which will limit relief from the heat and contribute to increased risk of heat related illness.
Temperatures are forecasted to be from 98 to 103 degrees across Oregon, though some areas are expected to reach as high as 108 degrees.
An excessive heat watch has been issued between June 23rd to June 29th, 2021 for:
- Central Douglas County
- Lake County
- Eastern Curry County
- Josephine County
- Eastern Douglas County Foothills
- Jackson County
- Klamath Basin and Northern and Eastern Klamath County
- Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades
- South Central Oregon Cascades
- Central Oregon and North Central Oregon
- Eastern Columbia River Gorge
- Foothills of the Northern and Southern Blue Mountains
- Lower Columbia Basin
- Grande Ronde Valley
- East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades
- John Day Basin and Ochoco-John Day Highlands
- Wallowa County
An excessive heat watch has been issued between June 23rd to June 28th, 2021 for:
- Cascades in Lane County
- Central Coast Range of Western Oregon and Coast Range of Northwest Oregon
- Northern Oregon Cascades
- Western and Central Columbia River Gorge
- Central and South Willamette Valley
- Greater Portland Metro Area
- Lower Columbia
- Upper Hood River Valley
