Due to the fact the Dept. of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is facing worker shortages, and a statewide reorganization of offices, the Corvallis Gazette Times is reporting that 10% of DMV offices will be closing this summer.
With six to 60 offices being closed, the offices shutting down include Lebanon, Ashland, Cave Junction, Redmond, Sandy, and Stayton. As this of course will create a strain on other offices that remain open, employees will be moved to larger sites to help. The article states today, Friday, May 27 will be the last day for the offices to remain open as a public notice about the closures are going out.
To no surprise, the office closures will mean an even slower response time when visiting the locations that remain open. A DMV spokesperson suggested using web-based or mail-based services for those who may live in areas that would require them to now drive much further.
