VANCOUVER, Wash. & RENTON, Wash. - The Louisiana-based fast-food chain, Raising Cane's, is set to make a significant splash in the Washington fast-food scene.
Known for its delectable chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Cane's Sauce, and more, Raising Cane's is planning to open its first Washington state location in Vancouver next year, in a former Sweet Tomatoes space on Mill Plain in east Vancouver, according to The Columbian. This popular chain, which now boasts over 600 locations nationwide, serves a variety of items including chicken finger sandwiches, Texas toast, sweet and unsweetened tea, lemonade, and fountain drinks.
The only existing establishment in the Pacific Northwest is located in Portland's Pioneer Place. But the company doesn't plan on stopping there. There are already filed plans for two more locations in western Washington in 2023. Residents can anticipate a new Raising Cane's at 250 Rainier Avenue South in Renton, in a site once occupied by American Apparel in Seattle's University District. While there's no official word on the commencement of Renton location's construction, the company hinted at a Seattle debut by 2025 through a tweet earlier this year.
Raising Cane's inception dates back to 1996, and its journey from Louisiana to the Pacific Northwest has been noteworthy. The brand's continuous expansion westward is a testament to its growing popularity. The upcoming Renton outlet is strategically located, given its proximity to Renton High School and other fast-food giants like Chick-fil-A, which sits less than a mile away.
In a recent survey by KING 5, Washingtonians expressed their wish list for other fast-food chains they'd love to see in the region. Top contenders included California's In-N-Out Burger, Texas' Whataburger, and Waffle House.
As the fast-food landscape evolves in western Washington, residents and food enthusiasts can certainly look forward to a broader array of options to satisfy their cravings.
