Mt. Bachelor Offers New Housing Alternative for Seasonal Staff at Bend’s Campfire Hotel

As winter beckons, seasonal employees at Mt. Bachelor have a new lodging opportunity thanks to a collaborative effort with Bend's Campfire Hotel, a detail sourced from KTVZ. This innovative partnership provides much-needed housing for staff, with applications opening for the 2023-2024 winter season.

Mt. Bachelor has unveiled an initiative in line with its commitment to staff welfare and community contribution. Seasonal workers are invited to apply for housing at Campfire Hotel, where single or double rooms will be available from early November through April next year.

In the heart of Bend, the Campfire Hotel is set to become a home away from home for Mt. Bachelor’s seasonal employees. Located conveniently near shuttle services and local amenities, the hotel also features 52 beds designated for these workers. "The Outpost," Campfire Hotel's communal lounge, is poised to be a hub of relaxation and camaraderie, boasting a big-screen TV and kitchen facilities.

Lauren Burke, from Mt. Bachelor’s marketing team, emphasizes the community-building aspect of this arrangement, ensuring employees have a space to make meals and socialize without the constant expense of dining out.

Campfire Hotel’s general manager, Daniel Elder, recognizes the growing need for worker accommodations in the region, especially for those employed on the mountain. This partnership not only addresses that need but also enhances the seasonal experience for the local and visitor community alike.

The collaboration between Mt. Bachelor and Campfire Hotel not only benefits the workers with below-market housing costs and impressive amenities but also the community at large. By securing 30% of the hotel's rooms, Mt. Bachelor demonstrates a proactive approach to employee wellbeing and retention, according to Burke's conversation with NewsChannel 21.

Mt. Bachelor’s website details the housing application process, noting the Nov. 15 to April 30 availability, the age requirement, full-time employment verification, and a necessary background check. Housing payments are conveniently deducted from the employee's bi-weekly payroll, and information regarding accommodation is provided upon job offer and during orientation.

This endeavor goes beyond mere lodging; it's an enhancement of the Mt. Bachelor employee experience, aiming to nurture a stable and contented workforce throughout the winter. The anticipation for the winter season is high, with Mt. Bachelor continuing to recruit for various positions, ready to open the slopes on November 24th, snow conditions permitting.
