by | Apr 16, 2024 | Adventures

Hiding in plain sight on the side of Highway 126 is a little pizza spot you've probably passed half a dozen times on your way to go hiking or on trips between Eugene and Bend. Ike's Pizza sits in a little gray building on the side of the road and is easily missed if you're not looking for it on your way up McKenzie Highway. If you've never been inside and ordered a tasty pie or their famous broasted chicken, you don't know what you're missing out on.

Just up the road from the Leaburg Dam and Old McKenzie Fish Hatchery County Park sits Ike's Pizza. This restaurant has been a stopover for years for hikers, campers and fishers looking to grab a tasty bite to eat on their way to and from outdoor adventure.

You might think that Ike's is your standard run of the mill pizzeria, but you'd be wrong. For one, this cool little restaurant has an entire room dedicated to The Simpsons. From bright yellow walls and awesome Simpsons art pieces to a Simpsons sculpture paying homage to the famous cartoon which takes place in nearby Springfield, this is one pizza pit stop you're sure not to forget.

The second reason that Ike's is unique is the mouth watering chicken. People come from all over the place for their famous broasted chicken served with potato slices. Broasting is a mix of pressure frying and traditional shallow frying, which produces juicy fried chicken with a delicious crispy, lightly breaded outer layer. You can order up the four piece, which comes with a breast, a wing, a thigh and a leg, or go for the eight piece.

Cheesy garlic bread and mozzarella sticks are popular appetizers to order while you wait for your broasted chicken or while waiting for your delicious pizza to come out of the oven.

Ike's serves up the classics you'd expect at a pizza parlor, like pepperoni and Hawaiian, but also has some interesting pies like the Bigfoot, the Belly bender, and Chicken Ranch.

The Bigfoot is served up hot and fresh with salami, pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, and lean beef. This is definitely the pizza to get if you're feeling particularly carnivorous and are looking for protein on your way out to hike or mountain bike.

The Belly Bender is another local favorite, with Salami, mushrooms, pepperoni, olives, sausage and lean beef.

If you're looking for something a little different, go for the Chicken Ranch pizza. This pie is loaded up with onions, mushrooms, chicken, ranch dressing and tomatoes. Delicious!

The taco pizza, chicken fajita pizza, and barbecue chicken pizza are also worth getting, though there are many more delicious pies to choose from. If pizza and broasted chicken aren't your thing, Ike's also serves up salads and toasted sandwiches.
