Stand By Me Day Celebration is Back in Oregon This Weekend

by | Jul 18, 2022 | Adventures

In honor of the 36th anniversary of the release of Stand By Me, the yearly event is back and just days away. Said to be the biggest celebration yet, the Linn County Historical Museum and the historic town of Brownsville are busy putting the final touches now. Fans of the classic movie come from all over the world to enjoy the event in Brownsville. The Linn County Historical Museum recently mentioned the pandemic had slowed them down for two years, but they are back now and better than ever. The event takes place on Saturday, July 23rd this year.

Starting at 11 am, the celebration will include guided tours along with a Geocache Challenge, 1950’s children’s games, and a cruise-in featuring classic 50’s autos. There may even be a visit from one or two vehicles that were featured in the film. At 1 pm there will be a fan forum and a costume contest that kicks off at 3 pm. And of course, you can't forget the blueberry pie eating contest, which will follow the costume contest. All of this fun will take place on the Main State in Brownsville's gorgeous Pioneer Park.

Guests will also be able to visit three Oregon Film Trail markers and discover the actual location of many “Stand By Me” scenes by downloading the SetJetters film tourism app to a smartphone.

All of this fun will certainly work up an appetite, at which there will be plenty of food trucks as well as the Castle Rock Kitchen turning out their delicious “Verno Burgers”.

If you want to check out the celebration, head over to Pioneer Park in Brownsville, Oregon on Saturday, July 23rd from 11 am until 11 pm. For more information, you can call the Linn County Historical Museum at 541-466-3390 or follow the museum on Facebook.
