As if the annual Winter Whale Watch wasn't enough excuse to head to the Oregon Coast this weekend, Portland Trail Blazers fans are in for a special treat. In addition to the 3,000 floats that Finders Keepers drops on Lincoln City beaches all year long, 50 special red, white, and black handblown glass floats will be hidden December 16-17, 2023.
These glass floats are made by local artisans, and if you find one, the treasure is yours to keep. Planning a beach vacation for next year? Click for the full upcoming 2024 float drop schedule.
From the Siletz Bay to Roads End, float fairies will be hiding hand crafted glass floats for beach combers to find. The floats will be above the high tide line but below the beach embankment. They're being placed during daylight hours only and hidden throughout the day.
Lincoln City also offers other ways for the public to obtain these unique glass pieces. By participating in the town’s Trash for Treasures initiative, where beachgoers collect and dispose of beach trash, they can enter special drawings. Additionally, there's a monthly drawing specifically for those with disabilities, accessible through the Welcome Center.
